The Commercial Tax Department which administers the
VAT Act, Entry Tax (ET) Act and Central Sales Tax (CST) Act in MP is headed by
the Principal Secretary at the Government level and by the CCT at the
Department level. The CCT is assisted by the Additional Commissioner
(Enforcement) in the functioning of check posts while the Deputy Commissioners
(DCs) administer the proper functioning of check posts established in their
respective Divisions. The administration of each check post is entrusted to an
Assistant Commissioner (AC) or Commercial Tax Officer (CTO) or Assistant
Commercial Tax Officer (ACTO) who is assisted by Commercial Tax Inspectors.
Job of CTO is to administer VAT act, Entry Tax Act,
CST Act in MP and assist senior officials in discharging their duties.
